More of Maysie...

The best pictures yet of our sweet little muffin. She is such a perfect little thing, and slept so well for her pictures. At two weeks old now, she is loving her milk, and it's showing - she's put on a whole pound and only just fits on my bean bag for pictures.

This is the first time I've used this hat - it was made to be worn by Maysie.

When she's asleep, she is completely out!

Smuchy, cutesy, lovely babyness!

Just adorable.

What a doll! She was completely content to have her picture taken.

My plan for next week is black and white! Watch this space!

The sweetest girly...

Her first official photo shoot was of course in the hospital, but I'll be following up with weekly progress shoots. This is my little niece. And it has been a privilege to welcome her into our family. She really is a wonderful baby and perfectly content after a feed and a little cuddle. I am looking forward to the coming weeks and months to get to know her better and of course to take beautiful pictures.

As a mother, I find it's the little details I want to remember - the twist of a hair, the shape on an ear, a tiniest little eyelash.

This girly has the sweetest little nose and lips - just perfection!

She loves her comforts, and likes to be swaddled tight!

She truly is a little munchkin.

Easter 2011

Easter Friday found us in the park for a mini egg hunt, and a photo shoot. The weather was beautiful, like it's been all spring, so we found shade under the trees. It was so much fun filling little plastic eggs with chocolate buttons and then hiding them, and picking buttercups in the small wild flower meadow. Sounds idyllic, and it was. Looks as though we could have had the whole park to ourselves? You'd never have guessed that big brothers and boys played a noisy and fast paced game of football just a few feet away!

A huge thank you to two of the prettiest girls, and whilst Mummy said you'd never really had your pictures taken before, I think you could be pro's, you were so wonderful! (It's amazing the power chocolate has - hehe!)

Engagement Session - Weston-super-Mare Wedding Photographer

Lucy & Pete are just the most perfect couple. It was so much fun to spend time with them last week taking their pictures. I think they look so perfect together. We chose our home town of Weston-super-Mare as our backdrop and braved the elements to capture the most beautiful pictures. The sky was grey and the temperature was cold and then those grey clouds opened and rained on us! But it was so worth it.

Lucy and Pete - you guys are so perfect, roll on September!

A re-brand...

I love to re-brand. I love the design process, but one day I'll actually design something I really love and I won't have to do it again. I think this logo is a real keeper though. I needed some thing that was still me, whilst being sophisticated enough to represent wedding photography and simple enough for my work photographing babies and children. I think this works.

Steph & Sam - February 2011

Steph & Sam are such amazing people. I throughly enjoyed spending time with them during our session. I have to commend Sam for being a brilliant sport, he really got into spirit of posing, and he really made some perfect picture moments with Steph.

I love the setting Steph & Sam choose for their pictures, it was so much fun to take pictures in Weston-super-Mare. The new fountain is beautiful too.

Gabby & James - February 2011

Gabby and James are getting married in just 5 weeks time. I have them to credit for my recent transition into the world of wedding photography. Their beautiful pictures were taken in the same location that they got engaged, and the date for their session was February 14th - how romantic! Gabby virtually froze to death as it was blowing a gale on our little hill, but I think it was all worth it as Gabby looked wonderful!

These are my favourite pictures from our session together. I love the beautiful early morning sun haze and the closeness of their relationship that we were able to capture. Thank you Gabby & James, I am so looking forward to May 7th.

Focus on the family...

This is where my focus has been over the last couple of months.

Sometimes family needs to be the most important priority in your life. And so, although I have been working super hard on my business, it has been a little quite round here recently. I hope to change that now. I have so many beautiful pictures to post, and lots of exciting sessions in the very near future. This year seems to be all about weddings, and whilst children's portrait photography will always be my first love, I am branching out. And I am incredibly excited about my new venture.

Cute as a 'button'

On Saturday I had the privilege of taking pictures of the loveliest family, including this handsome little man. It was such a joy to be in their home. There's a special kind of feeling in a home when a new baby arrives - a calm, warm, peaceful feeling, and this home was just full of that kind of love.

It was also wonderful to photograph a little boy, I haven't done that since Nathaniel was little and I so enjoyed it. He was so good for me too, a wonderful sleeper, and didn't mind too much being moved and cuddled. I am now enjoying edited this little man's pictures, and look forward to being done soon.

My favourite style of photography...

I've been thinking about this a lot lately - what is my favourite style of photography? It's almost as difficult to choose as picking my favourite movie or song. I certainly love the very precise style involved in photographing new babies - the props, the unique studio set up, the up-close intimate pictures - lovely. Then there's the studio style - plain backgrounds with a focus on the individual, this style of photography can really draw out a persons character. Finally the natural style. Outdoor, beautiful light, families and children just doing what they do - I love it!

So I've decided not to pick a favourite, but just to enjoy them all, they all have so much to offer. The exciting thing is that there are so many more styles to discover and explore with clients in the future.

Autumn Family Portraits...

A few months ago Jason mentioned that he really wanted some pictures of his family on our walls at home. I couldn't have agreed more.
So we made arrangements to get together to take some photographs. These are the results.

What a handsome bunch - and Lou & Danika - Just beautiful!

I just love these pictures - how handsome is my little nephew?
And my sweet niece has the cutest 7 year old smile - I love it!

Oh my, how this little girly has grown.
My boys adore her and her 3 year old gumption!

The granddaughters are a little outnumbered by all those grandsons, but they sure are pretty, and the boys are all rough and tumble and just exactly what boys should be.
How wonderful for them to say that they belong to this family!
